Tourist Long Term Visa

What do I need to get my visa?

You can use the visa wizard to get all of the details about what you need to get your visa. This will be different based on the country you live in or your nationality.
What supporting documents will I need?

To get your long-stay tourist visa approved, you’ll need certain documents to prove you’re ready for your trip. This means having proof that explains:

  • Your socio-economic situation - Are you retired? On leave? How are you able to enjoy a long-stay in France without working?
  • Your resources - Do you have the money for your trip?
  • Your accommodation - Do you have somewhere to stay lined up?
  • Your medical cover - Have you got medical insurance?

You will also have to formally promise not to work during your stay in France.

Staying for medical care

If your visit is for medical care, you’ll also need to have some documents describing what care you’ll be given and where. Don’t worry, this part is reviewed with the strictest medical confidentiality. No one will share any details about why you’re there.

Here are some useful (French language) resources if you’re coming to France for medical reasons:

  • This document from the Minister of Solidarity and Health covers important info about medical expenses
  • This brochure has everything you need to know about coming to France for healthcare, including practical advice on how to get around.
