Health and Care Worker

How much does a Health and Care Worker visa cost?

When applying for this visa, you’ll have a few things to pay for, including

  • the application fee
  • expenses whilst you’re in the UK - this is so you can support yourself during your visit - this is usually at least £1,270 (unless you’re exempt)

To find out the cost of your UK visa application, you can use the UK visa application fee tool. The tool is free and easy to use, you will need to select:

  • the country you are making your application from
  • the visa category you would like to see fees for
  • the visa type you would like to see fees for
  • the visa sub-type you would like to see fees for.

Don’t worry when you start your application, you’ll be told the amount that you need to pay.

What are the application fees?

These Health and Care Worker visa fees are different depending on how long you plan to stay in the UK, for example:

  • if you stay for up to 3 years - the fee is £284 per person
  • if you stay for more than 3 years - the fee is £551 per person

It’s no problem if you’re applying inside or outside of the UK, because the fee will stay the same either way.

How much money do I need to support myself?

To show you’re able to support yourself whilst in the UK, you’ll be asked to show you have at least £1,270 in your bank account. Remember, you’ll also need to show that you’ve had this amount available for at least 28 days in a row. As well as this, day 28 will need to be within 31 days of when you apply for the visa.

Usually, they will ask you to show this in your visa application, but, there are a few exceptions, such as:

  • if you’ve been in the UK with a valid visa for at least 12 months
  • your employer is able to cover your costs during your first month in the UK

Don’t forget, any family members will also need to show they can support themselves during your stay in the UK. You can check how much they’ll need, here.

If you’d like some more help and information about how you can show your finances, you can read more guidance here.

What if my employer can financially support me instead?

If your employer is able to support you, you’ll just need to make sure your ‘certificate of sponsorship’ explains this.

Whereabouts on the certificate will my employer need to confirm this?

If you go to the ‘Additional data’ section, you should be able to see a ‘sponsor certifies maintenance’ section, this is what your employer will need to fill out.
