Marriage Standard Visitor

What documents do I need to apply for a Marriage Visitor visa?

You’ll need a passport or travel document that will be valid for your whole stay in the UK. Remember to check that your passport has a blank page for your visa too.

To support your visa application, you can give:

  • details of the marriage or civil partnership and proof that you’ve paid money for some of its costs
  • proof that you plan to get married in the UK (this could be a booking confirmation or emails between you and your wedding venue)

You can see the full list of documents you can provide to prove your eligibility

If you’ve been married before, you’ll need to show that you’re free to marry or enter into a civil partnership again. You could provide a:

  • decree absolute
  • death certificate of a previous partner

You might need to provide additional documents depending on your situation.

When providing all of the above documentation, remember to provide certified translations if they’re not in English or Welsh.
