What supporting documents will I need?

You’ll need some important documents to apply for a German training/internship visa. For additional support and student visa guidance, we’ve listed these below so you know what to have ready.

  • Your student visa application form, filled out, along with 2 printed and signed copies.
  • 2 passport photographs.
  • A valid national passport that’s not more than 10 years old. Make sure it has one empty page.
  • Any previous passports.
  • Marriage certificate (if applicable).
  • ZAV consent letter from the Bundesagentur für Arbeit, which is essentially a type of work permit that lets you work in Germany. The company or organisation that’s offering the internship will provide it for you (you won’t need this document if your internship is with European Union programmes such as Erasmus, Socrates, and Leonardo).
  • A no objection letter. This is where the university or organisation confirms that you’re their student or employee.
  • A letter of approval from the German company that’ll be offering the internship or training. It should detail the conditions of your stay and payment.
  • Evidence of Qualification.
  • Proof that you have health insurance with minimum coverage of at least €30,000 throughout the Schengen territory. You could submit a confirmation letter from the health insurance company you registered with.
  • Proof of financial means, by showing one of the following or a combination:
    • Bank statement which shows you have enough money to fund yourself in Germany.
    • Blocked bank account in Germany. This is a special account where money can be deposited, then it’ll be blocked until you arrive in Germany. At that point, you can withdraw installments.
    • Payment statement from the company you’re doing the internship with.
    • Letter of commitment or letter of declaration, showing someone is going to fund your stay in Germany.
  • Proof of contract and your income statement of the last 3 months (if you’re employed).
  • Proof of ownership and income (if you’re self-employed).
  • Proof you’ve reserved your transport ticket.
  • Proof of your accommodation.
  • Your Curriculum Vitae (CV).
  • Proof you’ve paid the visa application fee.
