How to get a business visa

Top Tip: Once you’ve started your application, you can save your form and complete it later at a time that suits you. You don't need to finish it all at once, so you can always go away and come back to it if you need to.
Step 1 - Starting Your Application

Step 1 - Starting your application:

Visit here to start your application. You can apply 3 months before you travel, so it's a good idea to do this as early as you can.

Step 2 - Booking an appointment

Book an appointment at a visa application centre. Some countries might not have their own visa application centre, but you can find your nearest one here.

Be sure to leave plenty of time to book your appointment in case you have to wait for one.

Step 3 - During the appointment

This is when you’ll need to confirm your identity with the relevant documents. Don’t forget, you’ll need:

  • your passport or travel document
  • to have your fingerprints and photograph taken (known as ‘biometric information’)
  • the required documents that show you’re eligible for a Standard Visitor visa

The visa application centre might keep hold of your passport and documents while processing your application, but this is the usual process and nothing to worry about.

If you’re applying with family members, each person will need to have their own application and pay their individual fee. It is possible to apply on behalf of your partner and child if they can’t apply for themselves, but they will need to attend their own appointment at a visa application centre.
